a miracle to win against Krafty Kuts & Plump Dj's but to be in the same cat as them was enough to splurge
a load.
The night as a whole was pretty amazing, we got there early as there was a few oversea's dj's i wanted to
see which i might not get a chance to see again soon.
And the first few hours was a great way to meet loads of other producers, DJ's, Label ect and wicked way to
network as we were all there for the same reasons....Breakbeat...
The awards are allways very funny, very Break & Broll (Breaks version of rock & roll), most people who collected them
were smashed to bits, so the speechs's were very much out there.
The awards only last for about 45mins then its back onto the night, 3 rooms, every style of breakbeat you could think of
was on show that night.
I got to see everyone i set out to see & they all smashed, started off in the smaller room, great room to chat as you can just have a chat without the bass taken your head off, i see Left Right from Texas whos mix i have played on the show, 9B0 whos mix will be coming up soon, Karl Sav from Oz, who played some wicked proggy tunes, got a bit of shut up & dance who was playing a classic breaks set so that just went off, Krafty Kuts & A Skillz were doing there 4 decks, 3 cdj's & fx's thing playing all styles from hip hop, party tuunes, breaks, drum & bass you get the idea, also checked out eshericks from japan who just smashed last year with he remix's, he played what i wanted to hear, Future funk squad ripped it up as well, my highlight of night was seeing BSD (best breakthrough producers), there set just smashed the place to bits, 2 french/spanish (we still trying to work out who they are) as they wear masks when they play, kinda daft punk on breakbeat !!!!!
Then finished the night with a tech funk breaks set for elite force, us being the last men standing, i rolled home on the train with all the comuters ...hahaha....sun glasses was on, and i just woke up at my stop !!! was just like old times again ..
Was really great to see good friend and a label i have seen grow from the start win new best label, was gutted for scarcity as also a great label, but very glad that these won.
I fully recommend any one who loves there breakbeat to come along to this one year, an amazing group of people, no moodyness, no hassle, everyone on a right good vibe.
The breaks scene/music has taken a knock over the last couple of years, but what i am hearing from all these new producers you can hear and see its gonna take a turn for the better again.
Anyways enough of my rambling. If you did not know here are the results of the Breakspoll Awards 2010
